Kyle has been raising sheep since he can remember. He infamously got detention in high school when he took a cell phone call in class to buy a group of ewes that he had been eyeing that were going through the ring at a sale barn. His flock has grown and he began to realize the advantage of being able to raise his own rams. This led him to the desire to have a purebred Polypay flock to support his commercial flock.
Jake has watched Kyle's sheep operation with jealousy. After bringing his kids over to Kyle's repeatedly to 'help' do chores, Jake realized he wanted to start his own flock. After doing his own research on what breed he wanted to start with, he was beyond excited when Kyle approached him about partnering in a purebred Polypay flock.
Pro Ewe Genetics
To get started, in 2018, Kyle and Jake bought 20 ewe lambs from Bill and Helen Hardman of Uncompahgre Polypay Farm in Delta, Colorado. The ewes are lambed with Kyle's commercial flock and as lambs are weaned they are taken to Jake's to be turned into flock sires and replacement ewes. We feel that lambing the ewes in a true commercial setting allows for them to be tested in the rigors of a commercial flock without special treatment which makes our ram lambs the ideal choice for commercial producers across the midwest.
